Shape Ups. Shop And Tone Muscles. How awesome!
I've ordered my first pair of Skechers shape ups in October 2008. I had shape-ups sandals which now called "trim-treads" sandals (on a picture) from a year ago and they have worked great except it is not suitable for cold weather. When I saw TV advertisement for Skechers shape-ups, I had to have it. ASAP.
No Big 5, no "Sport Authority" carried them up at a time, and sales people had no idea what am I talking about. So I've got my shoes over the internet and it cost me a fortune - $120 plus shipping. Even though I was happy. I put it on right away and took them for a ride into the grocery store. First off, I must admit it feels strange to walk in these shoes. But since I had my "trim-treads" before I was an "experienced" user. And also, they aren't so awkwardly looking on your feet. You look more than an inch taller, which is nice - yeah. What is really cool, you start to feel your muscles after the first 10 minutes. And your back straightens up. I am not so athletic - just a regular mum with a tight schedule, so for me one shopping trip was good enough fitness day off. Shape ups have an elevated sole - and this is when a magic happens. You balance on the underside of your toes, roll your weight forward, rock back to the soft heel. It something you need to get used walking in.
I don't drive my car with shape-ups on. But I keep one pair on a back seat for occasions when I should wear a pair of regular shoes. I wouldn't suggest you to wear it for long hour's trips, unless you really up to it. For me 30 minutes a day is plenty enough. I am not fat on my top but my bottom is getting heavier with an age. And you don't want cellulite hit you hard on the end, do you?
My verdict? Shape-ups are great for short trips and everyday shopping. I wouldn't recommend these shoes for a long walks if you live in a busy, crowded city and it is an absolute "must buy" for those who need to lose weight and have a great chance to get in shape while you are doing your everyday basic routine.
Today Skechers have the whole variety of shape ups styles and colors. They are also available for men and women. The cost is about $99.90 a pair, but it worse it. My suggestion is to find online store that provides free shipping. This is what I did with my second pair of shape ups. I post links below.
